Protego SDR

Silynx has jointly developed with Sordin a tactical Over-The-Ears (OTE) sound protection headset.

The Protego SDR is compatible with Silynx PTT/Control systems via Silynx modular systems/Quick Disconnect Connector (QDC). The QDC provides the headset with power withdrawn from the radio device battery without relying on internal batteries. This enables longer operation time and eliminates the need for battery replacement and monitoring.

The Silynx PTT/Control systems also allow ear-to-network allocation of the PROTEGO SDR by the user.

PROTEGO SDR is available in headband, neckband, or helmet-attached configuration as required.

How Silynx Cables Work - One Control Box, Every Radio

The Silynx system is modular by design. The headset, the control box, and the radio cable are three separate components -connected by Quick Disconnect (QDC) on the headset side and a radio-specific connector on the radio side. When you change radios, you change the cable, not the headset or controller. This is the single biggest cost-and-logistics advantage Silynx delivers over fixed-cable competitor systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Silynx offers the PROTEGO SDR and PROTEGO PLT — modular over-the-ear headsets developed in collaboration with Sordin & Peltor. Both provide high-NRR hearing protection with Silynx audio integration for operators who prefer the traditional earcup form factor.

Over-the-ear headsets are preferred when maximum passive attenuation is required without electronic dependency, when the operator doesn't wear helmets or ballistic eyewear regularly, or when doubling up (in-ear + over-ear) for extreme noise environments like indoor ranges or artillery positions.

Yes. PROTEGO headsets connect to CLARUS I, CLARUS II, and FORTIS control boxes through the same Quick Disconnect cable system as in-ear headsets. Swap between in-ear and over-ear without changing your controller or radio cable.

Yes, with helmet-compatible ear cup adapters. However, for operators who regularly wear ballistic helmets, in-ear headsets (PROTEGO In-Ear series) are recommended for better comfort, lower profile, and zero interference with the helmet shell.

The PROTEGO CANINE is the world's first canine tactical sound protection headset, developed in cooperation with one of the world's leading canine tactical units. Designed to fit the head shape of German Shepherds and related breeds, it provides sound protection to the working dog while operating simultaneously on two networks — one for constant environmental hearing for the operator and another to maintain an open verbal command channel. The PROTEGO CANINE connects to any Silynx PTT/control system via Quick Disconnect Connector (QDC).

Yes. Layering a PROTEGO over-the-ear headset over Silynx in-ear plugs (like PROTEGO PRO) provides combined attenuation for extreme noise environments — indoor ranges, breaching operations, and artillery positions.

Yes. Ear cushions are a user-replaceable consumable. Contact Silynx for replacement cushion kits compatible with your specific PROTEGO model.
